3 May 2016 - Colour Schemes and body shape

For our dragon, we decided on a bipedal, dinosaur-like body shape, as we wanted the dragon to be able to hold weapons, and four legs is rather restrictive in general in terms of actions.
I spent some time playing around with patterns and colour schemes, most of which were based off of reptiles. Big boss seems to like the first two designs the most, so I will probably try to combine the two in the near future.
5th May - Sir Dragon the British

As promised, I have combined the two favourite designs into one super-fire dragon. After some complaints from Big Boss that the dragon wasn't unique enough and that it needed a new hat, I gave it two hats.
One monocle later and now we've decided to integrate british and french themes into the game to reanact the Anglo-French war but with dragons and robots. It is also at this point that I've decided to color code the anything dragon-related with red and yellow.

25th May - Modelling

So after a long period of procrastination due to general fear and dislike of the Maya software, I finally buckled down and modelled Sir Dragon. I started with a blocking of Sir Dragon before I began the actual modelling process. A lot of confusion and looking up low poly models of dragons and dinosaurs occurred.
1st June - Texturing

The dragon was textured mainly with Mudbox, due to the complex patterns, and touched up with Maya. A slight bump mapping was created to add grooves to the horns.
The accessories, such as the Hat and Monocle were textured in Maya, due to their simplicity.
It is also at this time that I regretted my decision to make Dragon markings so complicated.
5th June - Rigging (+ Specular)
In addition to looking up dragons and dinosaurs for the modelling, I also had to use them as reference for the rig. The dragon initially would have FK rigged legs, due to the fact that the dragon would always be flying. However, we decided to go with and IK rig instead, due to the dragon having to land for one of its abilities.
(Update: In hindsight, I should have just gone with the fk.)
Due to advice given by the teacher-in-charge, I also decided to add a bump and specular map to the dragon, to give it a "scaly" texture. Shading(top lighting) and muscle definition was also added.:
